Overview:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Supply Chain at Appalachian Regional Healthcare is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the supply chain operations, including procurement, distribution/logistics, central warehouse management, laundry services, strategic sourcing, and value analysis. This position ensures efficient and cost-effective supply chain practices that support the healthcare system's mission of providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities:
The AVP of Supply Chain will:
- Develop policies and cost containment strategies to standardize and streamline supply chain operations, creating value for our patients, providers and ARH
- Implements continuous supply chain improvement efforts across the system
- Successfully, integrates supply chain services in alignment with enterprise strategy, mission, vision and values
- Assist in developing measurable system and departmental goals, objectives, performance standards, in alignment with enterprise priorities.
- Develop and foster strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders
- Meet with end-users regularly to troubleshoot issues, provide ongoing operational support and to determine future needs
Key Responsibilities Procurement
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, strategic partners and service providers to secure favorable terms, and value with industry-best pricing.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors, suppliers and strategic partners including quarterly business reviews with key partners.
- Monitor and assess supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards and vendor registration policy.
- Work closely with all key stakeholders to ensure availability of product for all key stakeholders.
Strategic Sourcing
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives to identify and capitalize on cost-saving opportunities.
- Manages relationship with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO)
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new suppliers and alternative sourcing options.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategies with overarching organizational goals and objectives.
- Utilizes tools and technologies (benchmarking, GPO tools, etc.) to ensure contracts offer maximum value for the organization; renegotiate and drive change as necessary.
Value Analysis
- Establish value analysis strategy, team, policy and related processes
- Lead value analysis initiatives to evaluate, standardize and optimize the cost-effectiveness of products and services used within the healthcare system.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational stakeholders to assess the value and impact of supply chain decisions on patient care and outcomes.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance supply chain performance and value delivery. This could include LEAN, Kaizen, and Utilization enhancements.
Logistics
- Oversee the planning and coordination of logistics operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of supplies, laundry and equipment.
- Manage courier service, transportation and distribution networks to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Implement best practices for inventory management, including demand forecasting, stock replenishment, and inventory controls.
Central Warehouse Management
- Lead the operations of the central warehouse, ensuring accurate inventory, efficient storage, handling, and distribution of inventory ina timely manner.
- Implement warehouse management systems and processes to enhance distribution, productivity and inventory accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards within the warehouse.
Laundry Services
- Oversee the management of laundry services for the system, ensuring efficient processing and delivery of linens.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Monitor and optimize laundry operations to achieve cost savings and optimal operational efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably within the healthcare industry.
- Proven track record of leadership and successful management of supply chain functions.
- Strong negotiations, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across large health systems with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software and technologies.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task
