We are seeking an experienced AWS GovCloud Storage Administrator to design, implement, and manage secure storage solutions supporting federal agency and DoD environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS GovCloud IaaS storage services, compliance with federal security standards, and the ability to deliver highly available, resilient, and scalable storage architectures with proven disaster recovery and continuity of operations (COOP) experience.
Job Description
Successful candidates will demonstrate experience in the administration, deployment, and support of AWS GovCloud storage services in mission-critical federal environments. Responsibilities include:
- Designing, provisioning, and managing storage solutions using Amazon S3, EBS, EFS, and Glacier within AWS GovCloud.
- Implementing secure, compliant storage architectures aligned with DoD and federal agency requirements.
- Configuring replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies across multiple regions and availability zones.
- Developing and maintaining COOP plans to ensure mission continuity during outages or emergencies.
- Monitoring and optimizing storage performance, capacity, and cost efficiency.
- Supporting integrations with enterprise applications and hybrid environments (on-premises + cloud).
- Applying encryption, IAM policies, and access control mechanisms to safeguard sensitive data.
- Collaborating with architects, developers, and security teams to ensure storage solutions meet operational and compliance needs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years administering and managing AWS storage services (S3, EBS, EFS, Glacier) in GovCloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of DoD and federal compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST, DISA STIGs).
- Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution in AWS GovCloud.
- Proven ability to design and implement COOP strategies for federal agency workloads.
- Experience implementing replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies in AWS GovCloud.
- Proficiency in automation tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible) for storage provisioning and management.
- Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, GuardDuty, AWS Config) for performance and compliance.
- Strong understanding of IAM, KMS, and encryption-at-rest/in-transit for secure storage.
- Familiarity with OpenText ECM or similar solutions is highly desired.
Typical Duties/Abilities
- Collaborate with technical teams to translate business requirements into secure, scalable storage solutions.
- Provision and manage AWS GovCloud storage services to support enterprise workloads.
- Monitor and optimize storage usage, ensuring compliance with DoD and federal standards.
- Implement automated backup, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
- Develop, document, and maintain COOP and DR runbooks to ensure mission continuity.
- Conduct regular disaster recovery and COOP exercises to validate readiness and compliance.
- Provide technical support to system owners and users, addressing storage-related issues.

- Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a track record of solution ownership.
- Ability to articulate and document design/configuration choices and build consensus among stakeholders.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and compliance requirements.
Education/Certifications
- BS degree in Information Technology or related technical discipline.
- Security+ Certification (desired).
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (desired).
Additional Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to complete the government's background investigation.
