Job Summary:
Daniel's Bagels is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Back of House Lead to oversee all back-of-house (BOH) operations. This role is key to ensuring smooth daily operations and maintaining our high standards for our products. The BOH Lead will be responsible for creating a positive and efficient environment for our back-of-house team and for partnering with the Front of House Lead to ensure the entire team is working productively together. This position reports directly to ownership and offers exceptional growth potential for the right candidate as our company scales.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is an excellent communicator and exemplary team player
  • Has a strong background in baking (bagels, breads, pastry, etc.)
  • Brings previous experience leading a team in the food service industry

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily back-of-house operations, including mixing, shaping, boiling, and baking bagels while ensuring efficiency and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and train back-of-house staff and monitor team performance.
  • Ensure all baked goods meet our high quality and consistency standards.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Address staff concerns and provide constructive feedback.
  • Lead back-of-house communication with front-of-house staff regarding bagel inventory to ensure all bagel varieties remain well stocked.
  • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure all wholesale, catering, delivery orders are fulfilled
  • Monitor inventory levels of back-of-house supplies and ingredients and communicate needs to ownership. Monitor ingredient usage to ensure minimal food waste.
  • Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed.
  • Take proper care of all kitchen tools and equipment and communicate any issues to management promptly.
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in all back-of-house operations.
  • Troubleshoot minor operational issues and escalate larger problems to ownership.
  • Provide regular updates to ownership on back-of-house performance, feedback, and any operational challenges.

What the day-to-day looks like:

  • Competitive hourly wage and excellent tips (often $5+ per hour)
  • Up to 40 hours per week
  • Earlier shifts since we are a morning-focused business, leaving your afternoons/evenings open

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
