The Barista Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the coffee shop, ensuring high-quality service, product consistency, and excellent guest satisfaction. This role requires strong barista skills, leadership abilities, and a solid background in food and beverage hospitality. The supervisor will manage staff performance, maintain product standards, and ensure smooth workflow throughout the outlet.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee daily café operations, ensuring the shop is fully prepared for service.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene standards in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Ensure all beverages and food items are prepared according to brand standards and recipes.
- Manage stock levels, order supplies, and maintain inventory records.
- Handle opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reports.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support a team of 2 baristas, ensuring productivity and teamwork.
- Train staff on coffee preparation, customer service, safety procedures, and standard operating practices.
- Prepare staff schedules and manage shifts to meet business needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Customer Service
- Ensure guests receive friendly, efficient, and personalized service at all times.
- Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns quickly and professionally.
- Promote upselling techniques to maximize revenue (specialty coffees, pastries, retail items).
Quality Control
- Monitor beverage quality, taste, and presentation to meet brand standards.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of coffee machines and equipment.
- Conduct regular checks on product freshness and expiration.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate sales and wastage reports.
- Assist in menu planning, new product development, and seasonal promotions.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, HACCP standards, and municipality regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Barista, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, brewing methods, and café operations.
- Experience in Food & Beverage hospitality, preferably in hotels or high-end cafés.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and manage a small team effectively.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems, cash handling, and inventory control.
- Flexible with work hours, including weekends and holidays.
