The Baylor Nurse (RN or LPN/LVN) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility while working a weekend Baylor shift schedule (typically full-time hours compressed into weekend shifts with Baylor pay). The nurse ensures resident safety, provides direct clinical care, coordinates with the care team, and follows all facility policies, state regulations, and standards of practice.
Provide comprehensive nursing care to residents according to care plans.
Complete assessments, monitor changes in condition, and communicate concerns to providers.
Administer medications and treatments accurately and timely.
Perform wound care, IV therapy (if applicable), catheter care, and other required skilled nursing procedures.
Document all care in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
Promote residents’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being.
Respond promptly to call lights, resident needs, and emergencies.
Advocate for resident rights and maintain dignity and respect at all times.
Oversee and direct CNAs and other care staff during assigned shifts.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels and assignment completion.
Participate in shift hand-off reports and communicate resident care information clearly.
Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Follow all infection control protocols, safety procedures, and facility policies.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal long-term care guidelines.
Valid RN or LPN/LVN license in the state of employment.
Current CPR/BLS certification.
Ability to work the Baylor weekend schedule (commonly two 12-hour or two 16-hour shifts).
Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to supervise and delegate tasks to CNAs and other staff.
Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Ability to lift, push, and assist residents as required in nursing home care.
1 year of nursing experience, ideally in long-term care or geriatrics.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems used in skilled nursing facilities.
Experience with dementia care, restorative care, or behavioral health needs.
