The Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in administering benefit programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting employee satisfaction through clear communication and effective administrative support. This role partners closely with the Benefits Manager to assist with moderately complex projects and ongoing initiatives within the benefits function. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Support the Benefits Manager to ensure all expectations and business needs are met.

Administer day-to-day operations of employee benefit programs, including health, welfare, and retirement plans.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations such as ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits files and research/ resolve issues and inquiries.

Collaborate with vendors to monitor enrollment processes and troubleshoot issues.

Support benefits-related projects, audits, and reporting as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in HR, benefits administration, or a related field.

Strong understanding of health and welfare plans and applicable federal and state benefit laws.

Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration platforms, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in data management.

Customer-focused approach with professionalism, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.

Proven ability to research, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues independently and efficiently.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in human resources or closely related field.

Experience with Workday and integrations.

Experience with open enrollment processes and annual plan audits.

Experience working with vendors and brokers.
