Job Description 2: BI Developer – Tableau
Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned BI Developer with deep expertise in Data Analytics and Data Management, especially with Tableau and SQL. This role requires the ability to work across the BI landscape—covering data modelling, KPI design, dashboard engineering, performance optimization, and integration with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake. The candidate should bring hands-on experience with multiple BI tools, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence analytics strategy across business teams.
Required Skills
Advanced experience in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server (or Tableau Online), and Tableau Prep for designing and building BI solutions.
Strong SQL skills: ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries in relational/cloud data warehouses.
Experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data warehouses. (Snowflake expertise preferred.)
Proven background in BI development, translating business needs into technical design, and delivering production dashboards.
Deep understanding of data modelling, data blending, and data preparation techniques for visualization.
Expertise in performance tuning dashboards — workbook optimization, extract design, calculation optimization.
Good stakeholder management: ability to work with business users, product owners, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide feedback, and deliver solutions.
Excellent communication skills: explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, writing documentation, and conducting user training.
Experience in designing and enforcing data governance, data security, and access control in BI tools.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Certification in Tableau (e.g., Tableau Desktop Certified, Tableau Server).
Familiarity with other BI or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, ThoughtSpot)
Have working experience with one of the technologies like Cognos or ThoughtSpot
Experience with scripting languages (Python, R) for data manipulation, automation, or advanced analytics.
Experience in ETL/ELT tools or frameworks (e.g., dbt, Airflow) to support data-engineering collaboration.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in agile teams.
Can adjust in any situation and always keen to learn new technologies.
