Key Responsibilities:
- Develop BIW (Body-in-White) door and closure components using NX with Daimler methodologies.
- Validate styling data against technical requirements and ensure integration feasibility.
- Analyze and design door seals, mechanisms, glass, hinges, handles, and related closures components.
- Define hinge axis and latch positions in alignment with functional and packaging needs.
- Create and validate master sections, conduct benchmarking, and develop concept proposals.
- Perform packaging studies, interference checks, and create joining elements for assemblies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Simulation, Manufacturing, Vehicle Integration, Corrosion Protection) to incorporate design feedback.
- Manage engineering changes, documentation, and participate in project forums for presentations.
- Drive ideas for cost reduction, weight optimization, process improvement, and innovation.
- Ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong product functional knowledge in BIW (Doors & Closures).
- Expertise in NX for styling validation, CAD construction, PMI, GD&T, and product design.
- Experience with change management processes (NCM / ACM).
- Capability to interact with suppliers for costing and project coordination.
- Proficiency in CFT collaboration (MDS, project workflows).
- Understanding of manufacturing feasibility, tooling knowledge, and proto/hardware build phases.
- Familiarity with documentation processes (Freigabe management, EC, DIALOG).
- Experience in VA/VE (value analysis & value engineering).
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in BIW/Automotive product development (modifiable as required).
