The Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide behavior-analytic services to clients with developmental disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or other behavioral challenges. The BCaBA conducts assessments, implements behavior intervention plans, collects data, and collaborates with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to support client progress and achieve meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Behavioral Assessments: Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and other evaluations to identify client needs and target behaviors.
- Intervention Implementation: Deliver behavior intervention plans designed by the supervising BCBA, ensuring fidelity to evidence-based practices such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, record, and analyze behavioral data to monitor client progress and make data-driven recommendations for plan adjustments.
- Client Support: Provide direct one-on-one or group therapy sessions to clients in various settings (e.g., clinic, home, school, or community).
- Training and Collaboration: Train caregivers, parents, and support staff on behavior intervention strategies to ensure consistency across environments.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and treatment plans, in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with BCBA, Supervisors, BIs, and other professionals to provide holistic care.
- Ethical Compliance: Adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Professional and Ethical Compliance Code and all relevant state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, applied behavior analysis, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience providing behavior-analytic services (preferred but not required for entry-level positions).
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, families, and teams.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Ability to adapt interventions to meet individual client needs.
- Organizational skills for managing documentation and caseloads.
- Licensure: Compliance with state-specific licensure or registration requirements, if applicable.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a criminal background check and any additional screenings required for working with vulnerable populations.
