Key Responsibilities
- Prescription Management: Attending to customer prescriptions, verifying their accuracy, and dispensing medications as per the doctor's instructions. This includes cross-checking the dispensed items with the bill for accuracy (patient name, item name, quantity, expiry date).
- Patient Counseling: Advising patients on the proper dosage, potential side effects, and correct usage of both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. The pharmacist or assistant helps patients select appropriate OTC products for minor ailments.
- Customer Service & Sales: Interacting with customers, handling phone calls, processing sales transactions (cash, card), and promoting the pharmacy's services. This role requires strong communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude.
- Inventory Control: Managing and organizing the medicine stock, which includes receiving deliveries, checking batch numbers and expiry dates, entering stock data into the computer system, and ensuring 100% physical stock tallying.
- Compliance and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate patient records and inventory logs, and ensuring all operations adhere to relevant pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Pharmacy Maintenance: Ensuring the counter and general pharmacy area are clean, organized, and compliant with hygiene and safety standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) degree, often accompanied by a valid pharmacist registration/license.
- In-depth knowledge of medicines, their uses, side effects, and potential interactions.
