About Bach to Rock Herndon
Bach to Rock (“B2R”) is a modern music school that combines structured music education with real performance opportunities in bands, ensembles, and events. At Bach to Rock Herndon, we teach students of all ages and skill levels through private lessons, group classes, early childhood programs, camps, and community performances, creating a professional yet fun environment where students can grow as musicians and performers.
About the Brass Instructor Role
As a Brass Music Teacher at Bach to Rock Herndon, you'll teach private lessons and small groups on one or more brass instruments (e.g. trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium). You'll work with students of varying ages and levels, from beginners to more advanced players, helping them build solid fundamentals, develop musicality, and prepare for performances, recitals, and ensembles.
Key Responsibilities- Teach 30- and 60-minute private lessons on one or more brass instruments.
- Develop lesson plans tailored to each student's goals, age, and skill level.
- Prepare students for recitals, performances, and exams (as applicable).
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians about progress and expectations.
- Maintain a consistent teaching schedule and reliable attendance.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff on events, recitals, and ensemble opportunities.
Required Qualifications- Strong proficiency on at least one brass instrument (ideally multiple)
- Minimum:
- Currently enrolled in a music or music-related degree OR
- 2–3+ years consistent experience teaching or or leading youth programs OR
- 1–2+ years emerging professional performance experience on a brass instrument.
- Comfort working with children and teens in a lesson setting.
- Reliable personal transportation.
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly teaching schedule (including evenings and weekends).
Preferred Qualifications- Completed Bachelor's in Music, Music Education, or related field; or
- 3–5+ years brass teaching experience; or
- Significant performance experience (regional ensembles, pit orchestras, touring, etc.).
Schedule & Availability- Part-time, hourly position based on lesson schedule.
- Peak hours: Weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays.
- Must be able to maintain reliable availability week-to-week for at least one term/season.
Compensation- Hourly pay based on instructor tier and experience:
- Tier 1 (Entry/Developing): $17–$18/hr
- Tier 2 (Established): $18–$20/hr
- Tier 3 (Advanced/Specialist): $20–$22/hr
- Actual tier and rate will be determined based on education, teaching experience, and performance background.
