Building Automation System Designer

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Building Automation System Designer. You will be responsible for producing detailed submittal drawings and documentation for Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects. This includes system schematics, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, network topologies, sequence of operations, and equipment integration details based on project drawings & specifications. The role ensures all deliverables meet engineering standards, client requirements, and local codes. The Submittal Specialist collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to ensure accurate and timely submission of documents critical to project approval and execution.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review submittals for building automation projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to gather necessary information for submittals.
• Utilize mechanical knowledge to understand system requirements and provide accurate documentation.
• Fabricate necessary components as required for project implementation.
• Maintain organized records of all submittals, revisions, and approvals.
• Conduct field service visits as needed to support installation and troubleshooting efforts.
• Use tools such as voltmeters to detect issues within systems and ensure proper functionality.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly.

Qualifications

• Create and revise BAS submittal packages, including control drawings and schematics.
• Interpret HVAC plans, mechanical schedules, and sequences of operations.
• Use Microsoft Visio software to develop control system layouts.
• Coordinate with engineers and sales teams to incorporate design changes.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards (ASHRAE, NEC, etc.).
• Support project turnover documentation and as-built drawing revisions.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in distributed control systems preferred.
