MCF: Full-time Buyer opening for our York, PA office!

Overview:

The Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products and materials that align with our business goals. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation acumen, managing supplier relationships and ensuring effective inventory flow with a strong focus on inventory planning and stock optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Sourcing & Procurement

  • Purchase materials, components or services as required and in a timely manner to align with company/customer requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and products based on cost, quality, reliability, and lead times.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and internal departments relating to processes, new projects & trends and provide insight regarding potential risks or opportunities to the organization.
  • Stay current on market trends, emerging products, and sourcing opportunities to drive competitive advantage.

Inventory Flow & Management

  • Manage the flow of goods from suppliers and ensure timely receipt and delivery.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels by balancing demand forecasts with lead times, shelf-life, and stock turnover goals.
  • Monitor inventory metrics including stock-outs, excess stock, reorder points, and safety stock thresholds.
  • Implement and adjust replenishment strategies based on sales trends, seasonality, and promotional activity.

Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Conduct supplier negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure performance, compliance, and alignment with business goals.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance, product quality, and contract adherence.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans for supply disruptions.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze purchasing data, inventory reports, and sales trends to support decision-making.
  • Prepare reports on cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory health.
  • Contribute to budget planning and cost reduction initiatives.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with sales, production, engineering, quality, finance and logistics teams to ensure alignment of purchasing strategies with company priorities.
  • Provide insights into marketing and operations regarding product availability, delivery timelines, and inventory risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles with a strong inventory management component.
  • Experience in government, defense and aerospace businesses, to include knowledge of DOD contracts and DFARS compliance.
  • Understanding mil-spec fasteners (AN, MS, NAS, TACOM, etc.) as well as industry standards such as ANSI, ASME and SAE.
  • Proficiency in inventory and procurement systems and Excel-based analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding demand planning, inventory KPIs, and supply chain workflows.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment such as retail, manufacturing, or distribution.
  • Knowledge of lean inventory practices or just-in-time (JIT) inventory strategies.
  • Certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CPSM preferred.

Qualifications:

· United States Citizen

· High school or equivalent with 8 years’ experience OR Business/Tech degree with 2 years’ experience in defense procurement

· Background check required

*This job is Monday through Friday 8am-5pm

*Salary is negotiable BOE ($55,000-$70,000)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
