Principal Duties and Responsibilities*:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Supports sales and estimating with obtaining raw material, outside processing and freight cost
- Source tough to find raw materials and special process suppliers within a short time frame
- Sends out request for quotes to suppliers
- Request approval from engineering on alternate materials
- Maintain RFQ’s for quotes
- Compares quotes and provides estimating with the most competitive cost and lead time
- Provides feedback to suppliers on quotes
- Locate new suppliers for special processing and raw material as needed
- Establish Non-disclosure agreements with new or potential suppliers
- Add item attributes in ERP system for new parts related to new products
- Add New Suppliers to ERP system as needed
- Maintain Material Reqs and MRP for Purchase Items
- Place orders for all material/service requirements to meet supply and demand
- Ensure purchase order reflects requirements as specified on customer prints or approved deviation
- Follows up with suppliers on open orders to ensure on time deliver and notate changes for all orders
- Communicate delays of material and outside processes to customer service, sales, and production
- Contact freight companies for status on orders
- Assist accounting with resolving invoices in dispute
- Maintain supplier reassessment reviews
- Review supplier analysis with Manager
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copier/scanner, and filing cabinets. Buyer will need to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Infrequent travel (<10%) is expected.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MRP/ERP business software.
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written format.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

- Strong Comprehension of Traceability Requirements
Education/Experience:
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in related field or a minimum of 3-5 years’ of proven sourcing experience.
- Manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Experience with reviewing engineering prints, material certificates of conformances a plus
International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR):
- Must be either; US Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
