Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, procurement processes, and ERP systems to support manufacturing operations and meet organizational objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Issues purchase orders that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers
- Maintains accurate lead times for assigned commodities
- Order stockroom supplies and raw materials based on established reorder points
- Place MRO purchase orders with established supply base
- Ensure confirmations are received for all purchase orders
- Monitors and evaluates supplier delivery performance. Advises appropriate personnel of impending supplier failure to fulfill
- Support cost reduction program by evaluating alternate suppliers, materials and purchase quantities
- Support material expediting for schedule changes and equipment downtime
- Assist Inventory Specialist with inventory reduction initiatives
- Insure all outside contractors have valid certificates of insurance
- Resolve receipt discrepancies with suppliers by working with receiving, accounting and supplier
- Work with Quality Department, Scheduling, Accounting and suppliers for proper and timely handling of non-conforming materials
- Obtain quotes and samples for new program activities as requested
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and quality standards.
- Maintain purchasing records, supplier files, and documentation for audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience required
- 3 plus years’ purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required
- ISM or APICS certification preferred
- Experience with MRP and e-commerce required
- Experience with JIT, VMI, Lean Manufacturing and Kanban preferred
- Knowledge of ISO9001including RoHS, REACH and Conflict Materials
- Strong negotiation skills required
- MS Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint required
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required
- Effective interface with all internal and external contacts
- Must possess good communication skills, written and verbal, and must be able to interact with customers and employees.
- Strong attention to details, highly organized, able to multi-task.
- Must be punctual and dependable, able to work with little supervision.
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
