How will you make an impact?

Buyer I will perform various purchasing activities within the Third Party department. The primary role will be to review, approve and process purchase orders and to resolve day-to-day issues to ensure timely delivery of products to our customers. This position will also assist our purchasing team with Buyer queue coverage as well as monthly backorder activities.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining the relationship with the assigned 3P suppliers.
  • Review and process direct ship purchase orders:

o within our 4-hour turnaround time

o by using our Specials

  • Maintain and handle customer specific pricing as well as evaluate and adjust sell prices to customers when appropriate.
  • Maintain Specials data and update when needed.
  • Evaluate and process stock orders to ensure sufficient available inventory.
  • Respond to phone calls and emails in a timely manner.
  • Review and act on our various weekly reports including but not limited to:

o Black hole

o Open not sent

o Cost Variance (direct ship and inbound)

  • Assist with vacation and/or other work coverage.
  • Complete projects on time when assigned by department managers.
  • Communicate openly and clearly both verbally and written.
  • Escalate problems when needed.
  • Complete other duties assigned by manager, including but not limited to backorder expediting.

How will you get here?

Education:

  • Minimum required education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Science

Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant buying experience
  • Ability to handle and resolve issues through phone or email.
  • Ability to resolve problems quickly and work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with intensity and attention to detail.
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, Mainframe, AS400, Cognos
