Job Title: Buyer & Merchandiser

Location: Kuwait City

Reports to: L1 - Assistant Manager, L2 – CEO & Co-founder

As we continue to expand our presence and reach new markets, we are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Buyer & Merchandiser with Business Expansion skills to join our team and drive growth.

Job Summary:

The Buyer & Merchandiser will play a pivotal role in expanding Velvet Desert’s brand presence, generating new business opportunities, and driving sales growth in the luxury jewelry market. This role involves building relationships with high-net-worth individuals, boutiques, and B2B clients.
This role requires travel to other countries for business expansions and participate in trade shows, events, and industry exhibitions to build relationships and gain exposure to the latest jewelry trends and collections

Key Responsibilities:

1. Business Development:

  • Identify and target new clients and markets to grow Velvet Desert’s presence in Kuwait and the GCC region.
  • Develop relationships with high-net-worth individuals, luxury retailers, private collectors, and corporate clients.
  • Conduct thorough market research to understand luxury jewelry trends, customer preferences, and competitive offerings.
  • Explore new business channels such as exclusive events, private showings, expo’s and high-profile collaborations.

2. Merchandising & Visual Presentation:

  • Ensure that the jewelry collections are presented in an appealing and cohesive manner across all touchpoints (stores, website, and marketing materials).
  • Guide the team on product placement, styling, and packaging to maintain Velvet Desert’s high standards of visual appeal and luxury.

3. Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients, ensuring loyalty and repeat business.
  • Provide personalized consultations and styling advice to clients, offering expert knowledge on the jewelry collections.
  • Engage with clients through regular follow-ups, exclusive invites to events, and tailored offers.

4. Market and Competitive Analysis:

  • Continuously monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior within the luxury jewelry sector.
  • Provide feedback to the management team on customer preferences, emerging trends, and potential areas of growth.
  • Analyze sales data and market feedback to adjust sales strategies and improve performance.
  • Work closely with the marketing and design teams to incorporate market insights into future collections and promotional campaigns.

5. Communication & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the marketing and design teams to align business development strategies with Velvet Desert’s branding and promotional campaigns.
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Contribute to the development of sales strategies, promotional plans, and business growth initiatives.
  • Participate in trade shows, events, and industry exhibitions to build relationships and gain exposure to the latest jewelry trends and collections.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field. A focus on luxury or jewelry is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4-5 years of proven experience as a Buyer & Merchandiser or similar role in the luxury accessories or jewelry industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of luxury jewelry trends, high-end materials, and consumer behavior within the jewelry market.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and jewelry-specific merchandising software.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients and B2B businesses
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities
  • Experience working with high-end or luxury jewelry brands.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and online merchandising strategies.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing within the jewelry industry
  • Willingness to travel within the region for client meetings and events.
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Knowledge of Kuwait’s market and high-net-worth client base is an advantage.
