Job Description:

The Buyer/Planner will be part of the Production Control team and report directly to the PC Business Leader. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for buying raw materials, components, supplies and tools; Duties include supplier relationship management, external services management, material requirements planning, purchase orders releasing and product life cycle management

Essential Functions:

  • Review MRP output daily to balance supply with demand for all assigned items; place purchase orders with pre-selected suppliers; provide accurate and timely promise dates for assigned inventory items
  • Communicate priorities to both suppliers and internal customers; disposition and eliminate obsolete and slow-moving inventory; maintain relevant data elements including lead time, order policy, safety stock and other planning parameters
  • Maintain open and effective communications with all internal customers regarding supply problems and resolution actions; maintain desired inventory levels while ensuring maximum inventory turns
  • Work with supply base to support VMI and Kanban inventories; communicate with suppliers to develop streamlined purchasing processes and communication lanes;
  • Maintain interdepartmental communications to ensure inventory on hand balance accuracy.

  • Manage outside services
  • Support Vendor Performance Evaluation Process
  • Schedule and issue weekly Jobs and make part marks for parts/product.

Education and Work Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of buyer/planner experience
  • ASCM certification preferred
  • Experience with MRP system
  • Proficiency in Excel required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment

Performing the duties of this job will require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand when necessary; mostly requires sitting and working on computer/phone.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
