Graphic Designer (Contractor) - Job Description

About CACP

The Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP) connects the creativity and energy of MassArt students, faculty, and staff with the neighborhoods and cultural ecosystems of Boston and beyond. Through programs that center collaboration, curiosity, and care, CACP works alongside artists, educators, and community partners to co-create projects that foster belonging, amplify local voices, and celebrate the role of art in civic life.

Position Overview

CACP seeks an experienced and creative Graphic Designer to help advance our visual identity and bring our communications to life. We're looking for someone with a sophisticated design sensibility who can build on our established branding ? helping to refine, elevate, and extend it across a range of materials.

Projects will include CACP's monthly newsletter, social media content, event flyers, a new organizational brochure, photo editing, and other print and digital collateral that showcase our programs and impact. The designer will collaborate closely with CACP staff and several on-campus partners to ensure that all materials reflect our mission, voice, and commitment to community engagement.

This is a contracted hourly position; specific hours, timeline, and project priorities will be discussed during the interview process.


Compensation: $30-40 per hour (rate negotiable based on experience & scope of work)


Responsibilities

  • Design branded print and digital materials, including newsletters, social media graphics, flyers, and other collateral
  • Support photo editing and layout for CACP publications and campaigns
  • Maintain visual consistency across all materials while advancing CACP's established look and feel
  • Collaborate with CACP staff and campus partners to develop creative approaches that highlight stories, events, and partnerships.
  • Communicate effectively and incorporate feedback from CACP team members and collaborators.
  • Deliver final print- and web-ready files that meet accessibility and format standards.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in graphic design (experience with nonprofit, higher education, and/or arts organizations preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop required).
  • Familiarity with Mailchimp, Google Sites, and social media platforms (especially Instagram).
  • Demonstrated understanding of branding, layout, and visual storytelling across print and digital media.
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills, with attention to tone and detail.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to take and apply feedback constructively through multiple revision cycles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Commitment to CACP's mission and to working inclusively with diverse communities.
  • Familiarity with simple video editing tools (e.g., Canva or in-app editors) and an eye for engaging visual storytelling on social media is a plus.
