Cafe Team Member

We’re opening a brand-new cafe next door to Prodigy Games and are seeking a motivated team member to run our daily operations. This is a long-term role with potential for management advancement.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can take ownership of the workspace and proactively demonstrate strong initiative. They must be comfortable working independently for most of the time and will be instrumental in shaping the overall customer experience and cafe atmosphere. Why this role matters

You’ll be the primary operator of a brand-new cafe. You’ll run the bar, set the tone for the customer experience, maintain standards, and deliver thoughtful insights and recommendations to the owner as the business evolves. You won’t be responsible for managing staff at launch, but this role may naturally grow into a management position as the cafe scales up.

Duties

• Execute cafe opening and closing procedures for seamless daily operation.
• Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including espresso drinks, bubble tea, and soda.
• Perform some food preparation or service tasks, such as cooking, clearing tables, and serving food and drinks when necessary.
• Master the menu to communicate all options and allergens effectively to guests.
• Maintain cafe cleanliness, safety, and health standard compliance.
• Specify food portions, production and time sequences, and workstation and equipment arrangements.
• Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.
• Cultivate a professional, welcoming atmosphere that complements the game store.
• Proactively identify and execute beverage and snack upselling opportunities.
• Manage inventory tracking and communicate ordering needs to maintain stock.
• Ensure all cafe equipment is consistently clean, maintained, and fully functional.
• Monitor sales data to recommend strategic and profitable menu adjustments.
• Support store events and contribute to a positive guest experience.
• Process Point of Sale (POS) transactions with accuracy and fiscal responsibility.

What you bring

• A charismatic personality and the proven capacity to lead and engage groups in organized activities (e.g., trivia, bingo).
• Demonstrated experience within a cafe, bubble tea shop, or comparable hospitality environment.
• Proficiency in fundamental espresso preparation techniques and the aptitude for mastering new beverage styles.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
• Sound judgment and the competence to manage a shift autonomously.
• A strong record of reliability, organizational proficiency, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Adherence to stringent sanitation standards and comprehensive food safety awareness.
• Competency in operating cash registers and Point of Sale (POS) systems.

About our business

Prodigy Games is South Florida’s most popular local game store for all things trading card games. We sell Pokémon singles, Magic: the Gathering, One Piece, and so much more. After receiving a lot of customer feedback, we decided to expanded our business into the neighbouring bay. We dedicated the space to a new cafe to provide our customers with in-house drinks and snacks. We’re now looking to take this idea and conceptualize it into a full-scale cafe. It is our goal to grow a space where anyone can hangout, meet new people, and participate in daily events.

Pay: From $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 29.0 per week
