Car technician (Automotive mechanic)The core responsibility of a car technician is to perform maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of vehicle systems.

  • Diagnose and repair: Identify mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and experience to perform necessary repairs.
  • Routine maintenance: Conduct basic services like oil changes, fluid level checks, tire rotations, and tune-ups.
  • System inspection: Inspect and test mechanical components, including the engine, brakes, transmission, and suspension.
  • Warranty repairs: Perform manufacturer-specified warranty repairs.
  • Paperwork: Complete accurate and legible documentation of all performed repairs and maintenance.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety and environmental rules to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Car electrician (Auto electrician)An auto electrician specializes in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a vehicle's electrical and electronic systems.

  • Electrical diagnostics: Use specialized tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and scan tools to diagnose complex electrical issues and retrieve fault codes.
  • Wiring systems: Install, test, and maintain vehicle wiring systems, harnesses, and components. This includes understanding and interpreting wiring diagrams.
