. Job Purpose
To provide excellent customer service by accurately processing transactions, handling payments, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. The cashier ensures smooth billing operations and supports overall store efficiency.
2. Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet customers politely and assist with inquiries.
- Provide product information and guide customers when required.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate when necessary.
Cash Handling & Billing
- Operate cash register, POS system, barcode scanner, and card payment machines efficiently.
- Process cash, card, and digital payment transactions accurately.
- Issue receipts, refunds, and credit notes as per company policies.
- Ensure cash drawer balance at the beginning and end of the shift.
Sales Support
- Promote ongoing offers, discounts, and loyalty programs to customers.
- Ensure packing of items is neat and secure.
- Support sales floor team during rush hours if required.
Documentation & Compliance
- Follow cash-handling procedures and anti-theft guidelines.
- Maintain proper records of daily sales and cash reports.
- Report discrepancies immediately to the supervisor/manager.
Store Maintenance
- Keep the checkout counter clean, organized, and presentable.
- Ensure packaging materials (bags, tapes, tags) are always available.
- Check functioning of POS machines and report issues.
