ELANTAS North America, Inc. is seeking a Category Manager – Indirect & CAPEX responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for indirect spend categories and capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects. This role ensures cost optimization, supplier performance, and compliance with company standards while supporting strategic initiatives and large-scale projects. The position requires strong expertise in procurement, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver value across multiple business units.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement category strategies for indirect procurement and CAPEX projects aligned with business objectives.
- Lead complex, multi-variable negotiations involving pricing, service levels, warranties, long-term agreements, and performance incentives.
- Forecast negotiation scenarios, anticipate supplier counter-arguments, and prepare effective strategies that protect company interests
- Partner with engineering and project teams to define scope, specifications, and timelines for capital projects.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders by identifying long-term category opportunities, emerging market trends, and innovation areas.
- Manage procurement of equipment, construction services, and related project materials.
- Monitor project budgets and ensure alignment with financial forecasts.
- Draft, review, and administer contracts for indirect and CAPEX categories.
- Lead sourcing events (RFI’s, RFPs, RFQs) for indirect goods/services and capital projects.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve optimal value and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and operational requirements.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver procurement solutions.
- Prepare reports on category performance, cost savings, and supplier KPIs.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in procurement/category management, with focus on indirect spend and CAPEX.
- Experience with stage-gate project processes, engineering change management, and CAPEX lifecycle management.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, project management, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience in large-scale capital projects and indirect procurement categories (e.g., IT, facilities, professional services).
- Natural curiosity and strong business acumen—deeply understands how procurement impacts profitability, operations, and customer outcomes.
- High level of initiative; sees around corners and anticipates needs without waiting for direction.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to turn data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Certification in Supply Chain (CPSM, CIPS) or Project Management (PMP) is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
