Summary

The Charge Nurse directly supervises staff and is a clinical expert practitioner specific to the unit and/or initiative. This position includes both direct and indirect patient care in combination with education/staff development functions as well as designated management functions to promote high quality, cost effective health care.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Unit Specific

Surgical Orthopedics

Required:

• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within six (6) months
• Neurosurgical course completion within six (6) months

Preferred:

• Certified Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (CMS-RN)
• Orthopedic Nurse Certified (ONC)
