- Process Optimization: Analyze treatment data (flow, quality) to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of systems, focusing on removal of contaminants.
- System Design & Upgrades: Lead the design and implementation of new treatment units or upgrades (e.g., advanced filtration, disinfection, phosphorus removal).
- Operations Support: Provide technical guidance to operators, troubleshoot process upsets, and manage daily mass/flow balances.
- Compliance & Reporting: Develop monitoring programs, verify lab methods, and prepare detailed engineering reports to meet regulatory requirements.
- Technology & Innovation: Research and integrate new technologies, like advanced oxidation or membrane processes, to enhance treatment capabilities.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources for capital improvements.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Technical: Strong understanding of physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes (coagulation, flocculation, filtration, disinfection, activated sludge).
- Analytical: Excellent problem-solving, data analysis (mass/energy balances, F/M ratios), and predictive skills.
- Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, hydraulic modeling software, and data analysis tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication (written/verbal), leadership, and project management.
Typical Plant Focus
- Water Treatment: Raw water intake, coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, fluoridation, advanced treatment (RO, ion exchange).
- Wastewater Treatment: Primary/secondary/tertiary treatment, nutrient removal (nitrification/denitrification), sludge handling, water reuse.
