Founding Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) – Job Description
We are hiring a Founding Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead brand, growth, acquisition, community, communication, and market strategy for a confidential early-stage SaaS platform operating in a structured and credibility-driven domain. The role requires deep marketing expertise, strong storytelling, strategic thinking, and the ability to scale both organic and inorganic growth channels while establishing trust, authority, and long-term market presence.
Key Responsibilities Marketing Strategy & Business Growth
- Own the end-to-end marketing strategy across awareness, acquisition, activation, retention, and revenue.
- Design and implement growth systems that scale predictably across multiple user segments.
- Analyze markets, competitors, user behavior, and industry gaps to craft positioning and value narratives.
- Convert business goals into measurable marketing roadmaps, quarterly plans, and execution strategies.
- Run controlled experiments, growth loops, and funnel optimizations to increase conversions and reduce CAC.
Organic & Inorganic Growth Leadership
- Build and execute organic growth engines including SEO, content, social media, thought leadership, partnerships, and community.
- Lead inorganic channels including Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and performance-driven paid campaigns.
- Manage full-funnel execution: targeting, creatives, ad planning, budgets, optimization, and reporting.
- Drive compounding growth through distribution channels, digital PR, collaborations, and outreach systems.
Brand, Communication & Narrative Building
- Define and maintain a consistent brand identity, voice, and messaging across all touchpoints.
- Build a reputation of trust, reliability, and authority in a credibility-sensitive domain.
- Develop communication frameworks for product launches, updates, and high-level strategic announcements.
- Own content strategy across long-form, short-form, newsletters, video, and multi-platform storytelling.
Sales & Lead Generation Support
- Build predictable systems for inbound and outbound lead generation.
- Collaborate closely with sales and leadership to refine target segments, pipelines, and qualification mechanisms.
- Create playbooks for nurturing, follow-ups, and conversion journeys.
- Support sales through collateral, pitch decks, narrative positioning, and demo enablement content.
Founder Personal Branding & Thought Leadership
- Amplify the founders’ presence across digital platforms through content, interviews, insights, and authoritative posts.
- Position the leadership team as trusted voices in the domain.
- Build a long-term content and visibility roadmap to support credibility, partnerships, and user trust.
Data, Analytics & Marketing Ops
- Create dashboards, KPIs, and reporting systems for all marketing channels.
- Run cohort analyses, attribution models, funnel tracking, and behavioral insights.
- Set up automation for lifecycle marketing including email, WhatsApp, CRM nurturing, and re-engagement.
- Track performance metrics and optimize for CAC, payback period, LTV, and retention.
Community, Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement
- Build user communities, professional networks, and ecosystem touchpoints.
- Drive outreach to institutions, associations, creators, and subject matter practitioners where relevant.
- Organize webinars, workshops, events, and educational initiatives to build trust and engagement.
Team & Culture Building
- Recruit and mentor talent across marketing, design, growth, community, and communications.
- Establish internal processes for campaign planning, execution, review, and continuous optimization.
- Define quality standards, guidelines, creative principles, and experimentation culture.
- Build a high-ownership, data-driven, execution-oriented marketing team.
Long-Term Marketing & Growth Strategy
- Define multi-year brand and growth vision aligned with product and business goals.
- Build frameworks for scaling distribution, category positioning, and market expansion.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable quarterly milestones and execution plans.
- Work directly with the founding team to align marketing outcomes with user and business needs.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 to 12+ years of experience in marketing leadership, preferably in SaaS, B2B, B2C, or workflow-heavy digital platforms.
- Proven expertise in both organic and inorganic growth strategies.
- Strong experience in SEO, content strategy, paid marketing, performance channels, and analytics.
- Ability to build brand identity, voice, and trust in a structured and credibility-focused domain.
- Experience supporting sales teams through lead generation systems and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience managing CRM systems, automation workflows, funnels, and data dashboards.
- Exceptional storytelling, communication, and narrative-building skills.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts into clear and compelling value propositions.
- Strong strategic thinking, ability to operate in early-stage environments, and founder-like ownership.
- Experience building teams from scratch and establishing scalable marketing processes.
- High competency in social media branding, multi-platform presence, and founder-led visibility execution.
