Civil 3D Structural Designer

We are seeking an experienced Civil 3D / Structural Designer to join our engineering team supporting the design, construction, and expansion of metal recycling and processing facilities. This role will focus on developing detailed civil and structural design drawings and 3D models that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial site design, foundations, and steel structures, along with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for site modeling and layout coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings for site layouts, grading, foundations, and structural components using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Create detailed plans, sections, and details for concrete foundations, structural supports, and equipment platforms.
• Generate and update grading and drainage plans, surface models, and utility layouts for industrial sites.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and mechanical engineers to ensure accurate integration of process equipment and infrastructure.
• Review field data, survey information, and as-built drawings to produce precise design models.
• Prepare construction drawing packages and support permit submittals as required.
• Apply company CAD standards and maintain organized, version-controlled drawing files.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field staff to ensure constructability and design accuracy.

Software Proficiency:

• AutoCAD Civil 3D (required) – strong knowledge of surfaces, grading, and 3D modeling tools.
• AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu for drawing production and markup reviews.
• Experience with Revit, Navisworks, or Plant 3D (preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Civil/Structural Design Technology, or Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in industrial or heavy civil design, preferably within metal recycling, refinery, or manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated experience preparing foundation and structural framing drawings.
• Familiarity with site grading, drainage, and utility coordination using Civil 3D.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multi-discipline teams.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of steel and concrete design standards and industrial construction practices.
• Field experience verifying conditions and coordinating with contractors.
• Understanding of stormwater management and site permitting processes.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
