Job Description


AECOM
is seeking a talented Civil Engineer, with an emphasis on water conveyance and water resources, to support our Northern California Water Resources/Conveyance team based in Oakland, CA.

The selected employee will have a primary focus on water conveyance/water resources infrastructure planning and design for state, municipal, and private clients. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including conceptual through 100 percent design, cost estimating, and construction support. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to develop professionally through frequent collaboration with senior engineers, project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, industry-leading subject matter experts, and attendance at professional conferences.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support for a variety of water infrastructure related projects, primarily related to reservoir hydraulic infrastructure (outlet works and spillways)
  • Create and provide guidance for designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
  • Perform work with little supervision.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems.
  • Identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analysis of engineering tasks.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Provide in-person guidance and mentorship to junior-level engineers.
  • Provide assistance with workload forecasting and management.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline and 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in design of water infrastructure projects.
  • Positive attitude, good aptitude, and strong initiative to integrate weith our existing group of outstanding professionals.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated proven track record of completing technical engineering tasks and balancing workload across multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with design software including but not limited to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, WaterCAD.
  • Experience with project management
