Civil Engineer - Land Development Design and Permitting

Full Job Description -

Altus Engineering is a civil engineering firm located in downtown Portsmouth specializing in both private development and municipal projects. We have a long history in the Seacoast area and have successfully delivered thousands of projects to a diverse client base. Our professional staff and principals take a hands-on approach through all aspects of a project, including planning, design, permitting, and construction. Our projects include a variety of developments including large-scale residential, commercial, industrial and institutional sites, mixed-use and multi-family buildings, roadways, single family lots, environmental restoration and municipal and waterfront infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced civil design engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities -

Working with one of the firm's principals, the successful candidate will be responsible for civil engineering design to include site and subdivision layout, roadway and parking lot design, site grading and drainage, stormwater treatment and modeling, utility design and implementation of erosion and sediment control practices. The candidate shall have experience in preparing engineering design plans, project specifications and cost estimates, and shall be able to perform drainage calculations. Strong written and oral presentation skills and experience presenting to clients and local regulatory boards is a must. Working knowledge of local, state and federal land development regulations, environmental permit application processes and supporting documentation is required. Experience with construction administration and construction site monitoring would be a plus but is not mandatory and not the focus of this position.

Qualifications -

Minimum of five years engineering experience preferred.

Degree in Civil Engineering preferred but not required.

PE preferred but not required.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, HydroCAD, AutoTURN and other engineering software.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to include public speaking.

Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Team player but able to work independently and be self-motivated.

Experience in New Hampshire and Maine a solid plus.
