We’re looking for a skilled Civil, Piping, and Structural Designer to support the design and expansion of our metal recycling facilities. This role blends practical field awareness with strong 3D design skills — developing site layouts, foundation details, structural supports, and process piping systems that all come together to keep our operations safe, efficient, and compliant.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, construction teams, and plant operations staff to turn concepts into buildable plans that support recycling and processing equipment, material handling systems, and supporting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and revise 2D and 3D design drawings for civil, structural, and piping systems using AutoCAD and/or Plant 3D.
  • Develop site layouts, grading plans, and foundation details for process equipment and structural steel.
  • Create detailed drawings for pipe routing, supports, and utility connections within industrial facilities.
  • Coordinate structural framing, platforms, and equipment foundations with engineering specifications and field conditions.
  • Integrate civil and structural design elements with process layouts and mechanical systems.
  • Work from field measurements, redlines, and existing drawings to update and maintain as-built documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure design accuracy, safety, and constructability.
  • Maintain drawing standards, file organization, and revision control.

Software Proficiency:

  • AutoCAD and Plant 3D (required)
  • Experience with Civil 3D, CADWorx, or Revit (a plus)
  • Bluebeam Revu for markups and drawing reviews
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial design, preferably within metal recycling, heavy manufacturing, or refinery environments.
  • Strong understanding of piping layouts, structural framing, and site design principles.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and construction documents.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable juggling multiple design packages.
  • Field experience or comfort visiting sites to verify conditions and take measurements is a big plus.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of stormwater, concrete design, and steel fabrication standards.
  • Experience coordinating with mechanical and electrical teams on multi-discipline projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • 401(k)
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Vision insurance
