GPI is seeking a highly motivated civil site/fuel systems designer/engineer to join our growing East Coast operations in our Salem, NH office. You will be responsible for collaborating with our fuel systems group to develop design plans and specifications for projects located in various municipalities and states. Projects include underground and aboveground fuel tank systems throughout the East Coast for multiple petroleum clients. Responsibilities:

Engineering design and technical activities related to underground and aboveground fuel storage tank and dispensing systems

Preparation of plans, details, and equipment schedules for construction/bid purposes

Coordination with various local and state agencies for permit application submittals

Perform various design tasks related to site plans, fuel system layouts, and grading plans for retail motor fuel developments

Perform inspectional services at various stages of construction including tank installation, pre-backfill, and prior to final system operation

Coordination with petroleum equipment vendors and 3rd party engineering consultants

Potential short-term travel outside of New England for site inspections

Review and research applicable fuel system codes and regulations related to the authority having jurisdiction

Assist team with the successful completion of projects within established budgets and deadlines
Qualifications:

Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment

Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to understand project schedules, design budgets, and work efficiently within project guidelines

Experience with permit applications to local municipalities and state agencies is a plus

Experience with field work and site observation services is a plus

Experience with fuel system engineering and/or inspections is a plus

Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration

Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site

Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language

Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members

Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)

Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height of 6' or higher

Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
