JOB SUMMARY
A Clinical Microbiologist performs routine and specialized clinical tests and specimen examinations to identify microorganisms within the microbiology department consistent with extent of training. The Clinical Microbiologist is responsible for performing analyses according to established procedures, verifying results, and reporting results to the patient location and/or physician. The Clinical Microbiologist may assist with additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervising technologists / technicians to include performing quality control and maintenance.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required: Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution in clinical laboratory science or other related field (to include sixty (60) hours of science based hours) or alternate qualifications designated within CLIA ’88 standards. May be degreed and registered as an MT or MLT if experience level has been achieved.
Preferred: Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, or like field studies from an accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: 3-5 years of clinical microbiology experience
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required: Critical, subjective, and objective reasoning skills
Preferred: Experience with data analytics
