About the Role


Bivar is seeking a Commercial Sales Director to lead the commercialization of innovative products and drive expansion into high-potential vertical industries. This pivotal role transforms internal capabilities into market-ready solutions, unlocking new revenue streams and driving sustainable, year-over-year sales growth.


The ideal candidate combines strategic market development expertise with technical fluency and are able to interpret engineering drawings, understand manufacturing processes, and translate complex technical capabilities into differentiated, profitable customer solutions. This position will initially focus on strategic market and vertical development, with the opportunity to build and lead a sales organization as market traction grows.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate emerging verticals and adjacent markets for scalable growth and strategic investment.
  • Conduct market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and feasibility assessments to support investment decisions.
  • Establish strategic partnerships and alliances to accelerate entry into new industries and expand technical capabilities.
  • Define commercialization roadmaps, pricing strategies, and value propositions for new and enhanced products to maximize adoption and profitability.
  • Drive quote-to-order conversion by identifying and executing strategies that increase new business success rates and establish sustainable, recurring revenue streams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, and R&D teams to align commercialization efforts with customer needs and market trends.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation to understand product capabilities and limitations.
  • Lead commercial strategy to drive revenue growth across core and emerging markets.
  • Develop the commercial framework and future organizational structure required to support consultative, solution-based selling; recruit and lead a high-performing team as market traction is achieved.
  • Establish performance metrics and sales targets aligned with business objectives.
  • Translate market insights and technical capabilities into actionable strategies for product development and commercialization.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer behaviors, and competitive movements to inform strategic direction.
  • Champion innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all commercial functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in technical sales and product commercialization.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial sales, product commercialization, or strategic business development.
  • Proven success in launching products and entering new verticals that deliver sustainable, profitable revenue and margin expansion.
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge technical and commercial disciplines, translating complex engineering concepts into customer value.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and executive teams.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments with a focus on innovation, growth, and operational excellence.
  • Background in electronics or electromechanical manufacturing strongly preferred.

  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and organizational capabilities with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Independent thinker and data-driven problem solver with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Familiarity with
    ANSI Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Standards, 2D/3D CAD/CAM (SolidWorks), 3D Printing, and CNC machining.
  • Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, MS Project, SalesForce, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to travel 50–60%,
