Job Title: Commercial Lines Technical Officer

Department: Commercial Lines / Underwriting

Reports to: Commercial Lines Manager or Head of Technical Operations

Location: Abu Dhabi

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

The Commercial Lines Technical Officer is responsible for supporting the underwriting and servicing of commercial insurance policies by providing technical expertise, policy administration, and coordination with business development team, clients, and internal departments. The role ensures that all commercial lines business is processed accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities Underwriting & Technical Support
  • Assist in underwriting and renewal processes for commercial lines including Property, General Accident, Engineering, Marine, and Liability.
  • Review and analyze proposal forms, risk information, and supporting documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Negotiate with insurers the terms and conditions of each policy / slip
  • Support the preparation of quotations, policy wordings, endorsements, and renewal notices.
  • Maintain underwriting records and ensure proper documentation in line with internal policies.
Policy Administration
  • Process new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations within agreed service timelines.
  • Ensure correct rating, premium computation, and policy issuance in the system.
  • Review policy documents to ensure compliance with terms and conditions agreed upon with clients/brokers.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate policy data and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.

Verify the issued policies in line with company slips

  • Monitor the renewals in line with company policy
  • Stay abreast of the commercial lines marketplace including attendance at meetings and seminars and communicate with clients directly or through producers regarding new product offerings.
Qualifications & Experience Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a commercial lines underwriting or technical role within the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and policy structures.
Skills
  • Set the insurance requirements needed to be collected for each risk and verify information collected
  • Analyze and assess client insurance needs and review all commercial lines slips and set the appropriate terms and conditions
  • Negotiate with insurers the terms and conditions of each policy / slip
