About KinderSmile Foundation

KinderSmile Foundation is the leading nonprofit organization promoting Public Health Dentistry in the State of New Jersey. The Organization is dedicated to providing underserved children and their families with comprehensive dental care and education on the importance of dental hygiene. Established in 2007, the Foundation's mission is to ensure every child has access to a dentist and to eradicate preventable dental diseases, which disproportionately affect economically disadvantaged children.

The Foundation's staff and volunteers are committed to delivering the highest level of care and respect to everyone who walks through their doors. By offering community-based oral health education, dental care, and support for current and future healthcare professionals, KinderSmile Foundation works tirelessly towards a future free of dental diseases for all children.

KinderSmile Oral Health Program (KSOHP) is the flagship program of KinderSmile Foundation. With values of education, intervention and prevention as methods to combat oral health care inequity, KSOHP increases access to dental care for underserved children, regardless of insurance status, by bringing dental care to schools and community centers at no cost to caretakers. In-school visits include oral health education, nutritional counseling, dental exams, Caries Risk Assessment, dental prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, and the application of posterior Silver Diamine Fluoride for caries arrest on existing decay, and prevention on healthy dentition. KSOHP crucially links children to a permanent barrier-free Dental Home at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Centers (KSCOHC) in Bloomfield, Newark, or Trenton.
