Play & Learn is a nonprofit childcare and early education provider that operates and/or provides management services to a total of 14 programs, with 13 of them located in Montgomery County and one in Bucks County, PA. Play & Learn has been providing quality childcare and early education to children age 6 weeks through Kindergarten since 1981. All locations are licensed by the PA Department of Human Services, many locations operate a Kindergarten program licensed by the Department of Education, and our organization participates in Pennsylvania’s Keystone Stars quality initiative.
Position Overview
The Community Engagement Coordinator is a full-time (minimum of 30 hours/wk), exempt position whose primary duties are to increase the organization’s visibility online and in our service communities, promote and support program operations through family, employee and community engagement events and activities, and develop community-based partnerships for the advancement of the organization’s mission.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilizing various digital platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn to produce high-quality and engaging posts promoting the organization’s programs and initiatives.
- Maintaining websites to capture current organizational information and program content, including drafting, and posting of communications such as calendar of events, newsletters, flyers and an annual report.
- Assisting with brand management in organizational communications – logo, colors, mission messaging, etc.
- Coordinating annual organization-wide fundraising event, including securing site, vendors, and donor contributors; and crafting and disseminating event communications.
- Coordinating employee recognition efforts and organizing semi-annual in-service professional development training events for staff.
- Providing administrative support for center-based fundraising and family engagement events.
- Growing community-based partnerships to build enrollment and foster support of and engagement in programs.
- Assisting with daily office management tasks and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Graphic Arts, or related field is preferred. Experience in or knowledge of early childhood education a plus.
- Minimum of three years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or related field.
- Excellent writing and communication skills. Candidates will be asked to provide examples of their writing and other work.
- Self-starter and ability to work with clear direction and minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and cooperative and positive in relating to co-workers, families, and partners.
- Organized with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Creative thinker and a team player.
- Able to pass all required clearances including FBI, National Sex Offender Registry, State Criminal and State Child Abuse. Must have a valid PA Driver’s License and good driving record.

- Play & Learn offers salaries commensurate with experience, health benefits including medical, dental and vision and sick and personal time off. Salary for this position is determined by both verified experience and the number of weekly hours in the employee’s regular schedule, so annual amounts may vary.
