Overview

Position Description

The Construction Manager is the senior leader on the project site responsible for developing subcontractors and holding them accountable to meet or exceed client and FHG quality safety standards and expectations. This individual takes ownership for coordinating the work of all subcontractors to ensure the project consistently trends ahead of the client’s committed schedule. To be successful, the individual must represent the core values of the company and can influence others to do the same.

The Construction Manager will be expected to set an example for subcontractors and client representatives on FHG’s approach to construction.

The following description has been designed to indicate the general nature and essential responsibilities of work performed in this position. It is not a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Directly manage all subcontractors onsite.
  • Daily coordination of all FHG employees onsite (will typically be QA/QC and Site Safety Manager for large projects and Site Safety Manager only for smaller projects).
  • Understand and enforce all client and FHG scope and standard requirements for execution of work.
  • Lead daily foreman meeting in the afternoon to plan and coordinate work for the following day.
  • Generate daily project report to be completed no later than 6 pm day of work.
  • Should include pictures of key activities
  • Ensure all project records (ITPs, testing documentation, MTRs) are maintained.
  • On projects without QA/QC you will primarily be filling these out with support from Site Safety Manager as needed
  • Maintain site level schedule with key milestones and plans (minimum of 4 weeks) out
  • Ensure clarity each subcontractor on key tasks on weekly basis
  • Develop commissioning plans and commissioning responsibilities
  • Develop work plan for key tasks

  • System tests
  • Participate in daily and weekly safety meetings lead by Site Safety Manager. Contributing consistently on expectations around execution of work and site safety and quality.
  • Participate in weekly subcontractor coordination meeting led by PM. Expectation is to speak to and help lead discussion on site challenges and key tasks.
  • Participate in weekly client coordination meeting led by PM. Expectation is to talk through summary of work completed previous week and 2 weeks look ahead during meeting.
  • Provide written weekly summary and 2 weeks look ahead for inclusion in PM weekly report.
  • Review scope documents and subcontracts before issuance to subcontractors.
  • Assist PM and OEM with subcontractor selection.
  • Verify all subcontractor training and certifications are records are available and current
  • Primarily accomplished by Site Safety Manager, but you will be ultimately responsible to ensure these are in place

Position Requirements

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience working in a construction related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in a project site leadership role coordinating subcontractors on projects with revenue size of $10 million plus.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in reading the following drawings:
  • Plan view
  • Isometric view
  • P&ID
  • PFD
  • Ability to read and provide feedback on Gantt Chart Schedule
  • Ability to use MS Office Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with Revu Software (Bluebeam).
  • Experience providing constructability reviews to clients/ engineering firms.
  • Process/ Operations Experience in addition to required experience.
