Woodston Personnel are seeking an experienced Consultant Neurologist to join their client at a leading healthcare facility in Saudi Arabia. The Consultant will provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with acute and chronic neurological disorders. The role includes leading outpatient and inpatient services, supervising junior staff, participating in service development, and contributing to teaching and research within the department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist care for patients with a broad range of neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, neuroinflammatory disorders, headaches, and cognitive/degenerative conditions.

  • Conduct detailed neurological assessments and interpret neurodiagnostic tests (e.g., MRI, CT, EEG, EMG/NCS, lumbar puncture results).

  • Manage acute neurological emergencies and provide inpatient neurology consultations, including involvement in rapid-access and emergency stroke services if applicable.

  • Lead and participate in specialized clinics (e.g., epilepsy, MS, Parkinson’s, neuromuscular, headache, cognitive disorders).

  • Develop individualized treatment plans and ensure continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Collaborate with related specialties such as neurosurgery, neuroradiology, psychiatry, rehabilitation, and intensive care.

  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior doctors, neurology trainees, nurse specialists, and allied health professionals.

  • Provide formal and informal teaching sessions within the department and hospital.

  • Support ongoing professional development and contribute to neurology curriculum delivery.

  • Participate in the strategic development and continual improvement of neurology services.

  • Contribute to the creation, review, and implementation of clinical guidelines, care pathways, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Support the integration of new technologies, diagnostics, and treatment modalities.

  • Participate in local, regional, or national neurology networks.

  • Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients and families about diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options.

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Support patient education, self-management strategies, and community resource engagement.

  • Participate in, lead, or support clinical research, clinical trials, and academic initiatives within neurology.

  • Contribute to publications, audits, and conference presentations.

  • Encourage evidence-based practice and integrate research findings into clinical care.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in patient records and electronic medical systems.

  • Participate in audit, clinical governance, morbidity and mortality reviews, and risk management activities.

  • Attend departmental meetings, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) conferences.

  • Contribute to on-call neurology or stroke rota as required.

MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

US Board/ FRCS - Irish, UK, Canadian, New Zealand or Australian/ Diploma d'Etudes Specialises (DES)/ CIS French Board/ Fachart & Sub- Board/ Fellowship / Board / Fellowship / Sweden / Belgium / Finland / Spain

Must have at least 3-5 years of post-consultant or senior specialist experience

Eligible for consultant licensure with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
