Job Title: Contract & Commercial - Projects

Department: Contracts / Commercial / Project Management
Location: Chennai HQ

Role Overview

The Contract & Commercial for Projects is responsible for managing all contractual, commercial, and compliance-related matters across the project lifecycle. The role ensures that risks are minimized, commercial opportunities are maximized, and all contractual obligations are fulfilled in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Management

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize various types of contracts (customer, vendor, subcontractor, JV agreements, NDAs, etc.).
  • Ensure contractual terms are aligned with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Maintain a contract register and track key obligations, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate contract execution, amendments, and renewals.

2. Commercial Management

  • Evaluate commercial risks and opportunities in tenders and ongoing projects.
  • Support pricing, cost estimation, and bid preparation.
  • Analyse commercial impacts of scope changes, variations, and claims.
  • Ensure optimal financial performance of contracts.

3. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate contract-related risks.
  • Ensure all documentation meets statutory and organizational compliance.
  • Support audits and maintain commercial governance standards.

4. Vendor & Client Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual discussions with clients and vendors.
  • Manage correspondence related to claims, notices, clarifications, and legal matters.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain systematic records of contracts, amendments, and correspondence.
  • Prepare commercial reports, dashboards, and summaries for management review.
  • Support dispute resolution, arbitration, and legal liaison when required.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with procurement, finance, legal, project teams, and technical departments.
  • Provide contractual guidance to internal stakeholders before commitments are made.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and contract management tools.
  • Problem-solving and risk assessment capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 3–10+ years of experience in contract and commercial management (depending on level).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
