The Control Electrician Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of electricians and apprentices in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of building automation and control systems. This role oversees field operations, ensures work meets project and code requirements, and supports efficient project execution through strong coordination, leadership, and technical expertise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Mentor, coach, and provide daily leadership to apprentices and journeyman electricians to support technical development, performance, and safety.
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate manpower for installation and service activities to meet project deadlines and maximize field productivity.
  • Conduct jobsite reviews, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and progress.
  • Oversee tool and equipment maintenance and manage inventory of commonly used electrical and control components.

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate installation activities with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth project execution and minimal downtime.
  • Support project managers with progress updates, labor tracking, material needs, and required documentation.
  • Assist in estimating labor and material costs for upcoming projects, proposals, and change orders.
  • Work with inspectors to schedule electrical inspections and ensure successful approvals.

Technical Installation & Field Work

  • Install control wiring for building automation systems, including HVAC controls, lighting controls, and access control systems.
  • Install, terminate, and address controllers, sensors, actuators, and related field devices.
  • Perform line voltage work including VFD installations, HVAC system replacements, motor replacements, and other electrical tasks as required.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and verify proper operation of installed systems to ensure full functionality before turnover.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work meets applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
  • Provide on-site guidance to maintain consistent workmanship, proper installation techniques, and adherence to company standards.
  • Ensure accurate and complete as-built documentation, including device installation details, wiring revisions, controller addressing, and network configurations.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, commissioning teams, and technicians to complete installations efficiently and resolve technical challenges.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement within the electrical and controls team.

Work Environment:

This position requires the employee to work both inside and outside. The employee may be subject to loud noises and hot and cold temperatures while on work site.

Positions Type and Expected hours of Work:

This is a full-time 40-hour position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Opportunities to work from home on certain projects.

Travel: Daily travel to job sites throughout MA and RI

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting weight up to and over 75 lbs. in both a vertical and horizontal range of motion.
  • Crawl, stoop, stand, reach (push/pull) & bend to perform necessary work.
  • Able to ascend and descend on extension ladders, step ladders and stairs using feet and/or hands and arms.
  • Able to drive a company vehicle and walk around at job sites.
  • Reading, computer input, typing and answering the phone.
  • Clarity of vision at both over 20 feet and under 20 inches.
  • Able to judge depth (distance & space relationships), have a good field of vision, and identify and distinguish colors.
  • Adjustment of eye to bring object into sharp focus.
