Job Scope: Controls and Instrumentation Engineer – Data Centre Newbuild Project
Position Summary:
The Controls and Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, quality assurance, and commissioning of control systems across the data centre newbuild project. This includes Building Management Systems (BMS), Power Monitoring Systems (PMS), Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems, and cause-and-effect logic integration. The role requires close coordination with internal stakeholders, contractors, and third-party vendors to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of control systems aligned with project specifications and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Coordination
Lead and manage the controls and instrumentation scope across all phases of the data centre construction project.
Develop and maintain trackers for control system scopes, action items, and progress updates.
Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Design & Technical Advisory
Provide expert advice on the construction and integration of control systems and instrumentation equipment.
Review and validate control system designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and cause-and-effect matrices.
Support the development and refinement of control philosophies and functional specifications.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Oversee third-party quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes for control system installations.
Conduct installation checks and ensure successful product delivery in accordance with design standards and good industry practices.
Identify and mitigate risks related to control system implementation.
Commissioning & Handover
Participate in commissioning activities, including witnessing critical system commissioning and performance testing.
Provide technical observations and recommendations during commissioning to ensure optimal system functionality.
Coordinate defect rectification efforts and conduct follow-up inspections to ensure closure and compliance.
Documentation & Reporting
Review and approve as-built documentation for all engineering systems prior to handover.
Maintain and update engineering documentation regularly and as required throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare technical reports, issue logs, and status updates for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline.
Proven experience in controls engineering within data centre or critical infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of BMS, PMS, ELV systems, and cause-and-effect logic.
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for control systems design and commissioning.
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
