Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – Office + Remote)
Type: Contract, 10–20 hours per month
Pay: $35–$50 per hour (based on experience)

About Midwest Custom Print

Midwest Custom Print is a fast-growing print brokerage and promotional products company specializing in custom banners, signage, trade show displays, labels, apparel, and branded merchandise. We are scaling our marketing systems to reach 600–700 inbound leads per month, and we are looking for a CRO specialist who can transform our website into a high-performing, conversion-focused engine.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist to increase the effectiveness of our website and landing pages, ensuring that traffic from PPC, social media, SEO, and email campaigns converts into high-quality leads. This role focuses on website performance, A/B testing, and data-driven improvements that directly impact revenue.

Key ResponsibilitiesWebsite Optimization & Conversion Strategy

  • Audit current website performance and identify conversion bottlenecks.
  • Improve page layouts, CTAs, mobile usability, quote forms, and trust elements.
  • Build high-converting landing pages for product categories (banners, yard signs, table covers, labels, etc.).

A/B Testing & Analytics

  • Set up and manage A/B tests for pages, headlines, CTAs, and layouts.
  • Use tools such as Crazy Egg, Hotjar, or Google Optimize for heatmaps and scroll tracking.
  • Analyze user behavior and convert insights into measurable improvements.

Lead Flow & Funnel Improvements

  • Collaborate with PPC and CRM contractors to ensure full-funnel optimization.
  • Recommend strategies to reduce bounce rates and increase quote requests.
  • Optimize user pathways from ad click → landing page → form submission.

Reporting & Insights

  • Provide monthly reports summarizing test results, key insights, and next actions.
  • Track KPIs including conversion rate, cost per lead, and landing page performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience improving website conversions (portfolio or examples required).
  • Strong skills in UX/UI optimization and behavior analytics.
  • Proficiency with:
  • Google Analytics
  • A/B testing tools
  • Heatmap/behavior tools (Crazy Egg, Hotjar, etc.)
  • WordPress or landing page editors
  • Understanding of PPC funnels and lead generation strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver measurable results.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in one of the following:
  • Marketing
  • Digital Marketing
  • UX/UI Design
  • Business
  • Data Analytics
  • Communications
  • Equivalent experience will be considered in place of a degree if the candidate has a strong CRO portfolio demonstrating real results.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in e-commerce, printing, signage, or B2B services.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles (helpful but not required).
  • Ability to create wireframes or recommend page redesigns.

Hours & Commitment

  • Contract: 10–20 hours per month
  • Hybrid: Ability to meet in person in Chicago as needed
  • Flexible scheduling with weekly check-ins
