Editorial Fellow Description
About Us
Hola Cultura is a vibrant, multifaceted nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., that celebrates the culture and contributions of Latinos in society today. We produce independent media coverage of Latino arts and culture, conduct original research and host events that showcase our diverse community. Through this work, we lift up Latino voices, break down barriers, and promote cross-cultural understanding; while at the same time, mentoring and providing professional training in digital workforce skills to Latino youth and young adults.
Hola Cultura is a proud winner of an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for Best News Documentary!
Your Role
As the Copy Editing Fellow in Hola Cultura's Storytelling Program for Experiential Learning (SPEL) for young people between ages 16 and 25, you will lead a team of 2 or 3 interns and volunteers who will copy edit the stories written by SPEL’s Editorial Interns.
SPEL meets remotely every Tuesday for 90-minutes of professional development training and story lab time when Editorial Fellows work with their teams to plan, produce and publish original journalism for our online readers and podcast listeners. The Copy Editing Fellow plays a key role in training and mentoring Copy Editing Interns, assigning them stories to edit and checking their work before publication.
The ideal candidate has work experience or a strong interest in pursuing a career in journalism, the publishing world or a related communications field. Working closely with Hola Cultura's professional staff and other SPEL storytellers, you will be part of a team collaborating in a spirit of creativity and innovation to inform existing readers and cultivate new audiences.
DATES: January 2026 to December 2026.
