Our M&A Practice

M&A is a core part of the business, with the team advising on M&A (public & private) as well as distressed/special situation transactions, restructurings, joint ventures, partnerships, and corporate advisory matters. Recent examples of matters the Australian M&A team has advised on include:

  • an ASX-listed company on a A$2 bn merger-of-equals
  • an ASX-listed energy and resources company on a A$4 bn merger
  • a leading ASX-listed tech company on its acquisition involving the issue of transaction-specific convertible preference shares
  • a large financial services company on its A$200m combined debt and equity investment
  • a wide range of ASX-listed companies on their corporate governance and advisory matters
The Role

The Mergers & Acquisitions Associate will be responsible for supporting the M&A team, advising on all aspects of the transaction process and related corporate governance issues, and maintaining a high level of client service. The specific responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the M&A team, including advising on all aspects of the transaction process and related corporate governance issues
  • Advising clients on M&A, distressed/special situation transactions, restructurings, joint ventures, partnerships, and corporate advisory matters
  • Supporting the team in delivering solutions and commercially focused outcomes
  • Maintaining a high level of client service
Requirements

The requirements for the role include:

  • At least 5 years of M&A experience in a leading law firm
  • Excellent academic track record
  • A strong understanding of corporate law and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A willingness to travel for client meetings and conferences
