WHAT YOU WILL DO:
-
The Cost Accountant supports L2 Aviation’s manufacturing and service operations by maintaining accurate cost accounting systems, analyzing production variances, and ensuring reliable financial reporting. This role provides visibility into manufacturing performance, inventory valuation, and margins, enabling leadership to make informed decisions. You will:

Maintain and reconcile cost accounting systems to accurately capture labor, material, and overhead for all production and engineering projects.

Prepare and analyze standard cost models for manufactured assemblies, LRUs, and harnesses to support pricing and profitability decisions.

Monitor work order variances, labor efficiency, and material usage to identify and explain cost drivers.

Support monthly close activities including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold reconciliation, and variance analysis.

Collaborate with Production and Engineering to define labor routings and cost structures reflecting current manufacturing methods.

Assist in annual budget preparation and quarterly forecasting for manufacturing cost centers and overhead pools.

Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain to evaluate supplier pricing trends and identify cost reduction opportunities.

Maintain inventory accounting processes, including physical counts, cycle counts, and valuation adjustments.

Develop and track metrics related to production cost performance, efficiency, and absorption rates.

Provide financial input for capital investments, make-versus-buy decisions, and process improvement initiatives.

Support external audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control policies.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost transparency and reporting accuracy.

Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING:

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

5+ years of cost accounting or financial analysis experience in manufacturing or aerospace.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, inventory valuation, and cost allocation principles.

Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar); experience with Global Shop Solutions preferred.

Advanced Excel and data analysis skills with high attention to detail.

Ability to interpret financial data, identify variances, and clearly communicate findings to leadership.

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineering, production, and operations teams.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

Availability for occasional weekend or after-hours work.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
