Job Summary:
The Cost Accountant is responsible for planning, analyzing, and controlling cost-related activities within the organization. This role ensures accurate cost estimation, effective cost management, and supports management with data-driven insights for budgeting and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Costing & Analysis
- Prepare and maintain cost sheets, product costing, and variance analysis.
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to identify deviations and areas for improvement.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and cost forecasts.
- Monitor budget versus actual costs and highlight variances to management.
- Provide insights for improving cost efficiency and profitability.
3. MIS & Reporting
- Prepare monthly MIS reports related to cost, margins, and profitability.
- Present cost analysis reports to management for strategic decisions.
- Support internal and statutory audits with required data.
4. Cost Control & Process Improvement
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and cost accounting standards.
- Work closely with procurement and finance teams for effective cost management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting (B.Com / M.Com).
- Professional qualification preferred: ICWA / CMA.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cost accounting or related roles.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/ERP software.
- Good knowledge of costing methods, financial analysis, and inventory management.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
