Ready to lead something important and a little bit satisfying every single day? Cass County is hiring a full-time County Recorder in Fargo, ND. This full-time role pays $90,787 - $98,355/year with additional salary growth available through regular increases within the classification up to $136,177/year, and includes benefits. This includes:
WHAT WILL YOU DO EVERY DAY AS A COUNTY RECORDER?
As a County Recorder, you will oversee the development and implementation of procedures for recording, preserving, and archiving official documents. You will evaluate submitted materials to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and manage all departmental accounting functions, including the preparation of daily and monthly financial reports.
You will be responsible for allocating financial and human resources, preparing annual budgets for presentation to the County Commission, and supervising a team of six employees, including two deputy recorders. Your leadership duties will encompass recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, leave approvals, timesheet management, and disciplinary actions. Collaboration with external vendors will be essential for procuring supplies, equipment, and software. You will work closely with government officials, real estate professionals, and county department heads to achieve operational and project goals.
This position requires active participation in local, regional, state, and national meetings and conferences (e.g., NDCRA, PRIA, NDACO, NDRIN), as well as involvement in task forces and committees. Mentoring new recorders and serving as a liaison to the County Administrator and County Commission are key aspects of the role. You will monitor legislative developments that may impact the department and provide guidance accordingly. Additionally, you will respond to public inquiries, ensuring transparency and accessibility in departmental operations.
WHEN WILL YOU WORK?
This is a full-time, primarily office-based role. Work will occur in a standard office and in storage/file rooms.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE OUR COUNTY RECORDER?
A bachelor's degree is preferred. Completion of the PRIA learning management system is recommended.
