Education : Diploma in Handloom from NIFT or Tier 1 College.
J ob Context – About the Handloom Project – Handloom project has been conceptualized to help to reserve the art of handwoven textiles in India and to ensure that the weaver who currently has very low bargaining power in a system controlled by middlemen, can benefit directly from the craft. The project proposes to impact the maximum number of weavers possible across the country.
While currently in project form, the aim is to develop this into a full-fledged Social Enterprise . Major Challenges: The hand-woven textiles sector is highly unorganized and fragmented, hence, it requires a fair amount of on the ground management, ability to work with uncertainty and strong people management skills an ability to quickly learn the techniques processes that are associated with hand-woven textiles, so as to be able to control the accuracy and quality of the products A willingness to travel and interact with weavers at their work places is a critical requirement.
Given that the brand aspires to be a high-end luxury brand, an ability to understand local and international fashion trends and to be able to channel design and production towards those is a key success factor
Key Result Areas/Accountabilities
Supporting Actions
Vision & Strategy
Craft the creative vision and build the design & brand strategy in consultation with key stakeholders Envision & help execute retail infrastructure for the project (including retail stores, e-commerce, trade-shows), etc.
Design Creation
Create a relevant global line of products that marries authenticity of the craft with the trends of the season without compromising on either Maintain purity, authenticity & complexity of the Handwoven art. Yet building distinctive product aesthetics.
Pricing
Build and execute pricing strategy for the products Work out the initial costing in coordination with buyer and Sourcing manager.
Branding
Work closely with external agencies (such as the branding agency) to build the brand as a highend, exclusive, luxury brand for hand-woven textiles. Create brand properties for both Online & Offline presence. Provide structured support for story creation across other brand touch points Coordinate sampling efforts for buyers with the design team. Reviewing the development packs from buyers.
Sales & Negotiations
Manage the sales and negotiation process (in the initial phases) with buyers
