Core Functional Summary
The Credit Analyst I / Commercial Portfolio Analyst is responsible for analyzing credit data and financial information of individuals and businesses applying for credit or loans, determining risk, and supporting the management of the commercial and residential loan portfolio. This role involves preparing detailed credit memorandums and collaborating with commercial lenders to ensure the success of the Bank’s lending operations, including but not limited to the closing of a transaction. The position requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and a proactive approach to client relationship management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

Credit Analysis & Underwriting

  • Analyze financial information to assess current and future financial performance.
  • Review loan applications and assess customer risk profiles.
  • Prepare credit analyses including financial spreads, repayment and collateral analysis, risk rating, and loan exceptions.
  • Collaborate with relationship managers, brokers, and customers to develop credit requests for approval.

Portfolio Management

  • Assist in managing a growing loan portfolio and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
  • Conduct in-person meetings, inspections, and covenant reviews.
  • Monitor ticklers and past due reports; work with borrowers to ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare annual reviews and modifications for commercial loans.

Operational & Reporting

  • Maintain updated credit files and tracking systems for financial statements, appraisals, and renewals.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in the closing of commercial transactions
  • Assist management with special projects needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelors (B.A.) degree in Finance, Business Administration and or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years directly related to Credit experience.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, and a proactive approach to client relationship management.
  • Must be bilingual in both English and Spanish; Ability to fluently speak, understand, read and write both
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
