The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring a Custodian Lead. This position is located at the Wisconsin Military Academy (WMA), in Fort McCoy.
The DMA provides essential, effective, and responsive military and emergency management capability for the citizens of our state and nation. During emergencies, no single organization can handle the response. The DMA consists of several organizations working together to plan, prepare, coordinate, and respond effectively when our communities and neighbors need us the most.

The Wisconsin Military Academy is the Wisconsin National Guard’s educational institution, providing a professional learning environment, quality instruction, and training support to future leaders through its Officers Candidate School and Warrant Officer Candidate School.

Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodial Services Supervisor. This position is responsible for a variety of custodial/housekeeping tasks. Duties include but are not limited to general coordination of all custodial services including assigning daily rooms or task to be performed that day, using an automated system to assign and input clean rooms, inspect daily work of custodians/housekeeping staff to ensure it meets standards, address daily reports of complaints as to the quality of work being performed by housekeeping staff and report findings to higher level personnel; monthly inventory of supplies to include linen and custodial supplies; maintain the stocking of inventory; dusting/cleaning building and billeting rooms, appliances, and furnishings, emptying trash, operating household and industrial vacuum cleaners, making beds, operating carpet cleaner, sweeping, and mopping.
Starting pay is $17.64/ hr.
This position is in the 03/09 pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required.
Hours are Monday Through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

In order to gain access to the military facility and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
This is a State of Wisconsin Civil Service position. The DMA does not require current or previous military experience.
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
